The Narrow Road to Heaven: What Did Jesus Mean?

Understanding the Narrow Gate in Matthew 7:13–14

Many people ask what Jesus meant when He spoke about the narrow road to Heaven. In Matthew 7:13–14 (NKJV), Jesus said:

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

These words conclude part of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount and present every person with a choice. One path leads to eternal life, while the other leads to destruction. • Encouraging other believers.

These spiritual disciplines do not earn salvation. Instead, they help believers mature in their relationship with Christ.
