From Darkness to Redemption
How Jesus Christ Changed My Life
There was a time when I had lost my way. I made choices that took me farther from God, and eventually I found myself facing the consequences of the life I had chosen.
But that wasn’t the end of my story.
Jesus Christ met me in the darkness. Through His Word and grace, He led me toward repentance, forgiveness, and a new direction in life.
This is my testimony of redemption.
Welcome, I’m Nelson.
I created My Life Redeemed to share a journey I never fully understood while I was living it. Looking back, I can see how God was blessing me even when I failed to recognize His presence. During some of the darkest moments of my life, Jesus Christ began opening my eyes to the truth of His Word and showing me a different path.
My Life Redeemed is not a guide to living a perfect life. It honestly reflects the road I traveled, the mistakes I made, the things I lost, and the lessons I learned along the way. Most importantly, it is the story of how Jesus Christ, through His grace, began leading me out of darkness and back to Him
My Journey From Darkness to Redemption
“I know today that the Word of God is true. I found my life within the Word.”
There was a time when I couldn’t see where my choices were taking me.
I allowed temptation, wrong influences, and my own decisions to pull me farther away from God. Eventually, I had to face the reality of where that path had taken me.
It was in that darkness that I began to understand something I had spent years overlooking:
I needed God.
My journey back wasn’t about becoming perfect. It was about learning to surrender my life to Jesus Christ, listen to His Word, recognize my sin, repent, receive His grace, and begin walking in a different direction.
Proverbs became especially important to me because it taught me how God’s wisdom applies to the choices we make every day.
My story includes temptation, loss, spiritual warfare, forgiveness, failure, and painful lessons.
But those things aren’t the end of my story.
Redemption is.

The Word That Helped Change My Direction
As I began taking God’s Word seriously, Proverbs became one of the places I returned to again and again.
It challenged me to look honestly at my choices, the people influencing me, my understanding of wisdom, and the direction of my life.
Three verses especially stood out to me:
Proverbs 1:10
“My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.” I began to recognize how easily the wrong influences can change the direction of our lives.
Proverbs 3:7
“Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.” I had to learn that following God means surrendering my own understanding and becoming willing to listen.
Proverbs 16:3
“Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.” I began learning what it meant to place my plans, decisions, and future in God’s hands.
You Don't Have to Walk in Darkness
Maybe you’re struggling with your past. Maybe you’ve made choices you wish you could undo. Maybe you’ve simply found yourself farther from God than you ever intended to be. I know something about that journey.
I can’t promise that following Christ will make every difficult circumstance disappear. But I can tell you what I have experienced: God’s Word can expose what is true, repentance can change the direction of a life, and the grace of Jesus Christ reaches farther than our failures.
